Through a constitutional amendment, residents of the City of
Broomfield organized to become Colorado's 64th county. Annexing portions of Adams, Boulder, Jefferson, and Weld counties, the City
of Broomfield became the City and County of Broomfield on 11/15/2001.
In developing the report for the year 2001, the Health Statistics Section of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment used point-in-time population estimates from 7/1/2001, prior to the consolidation of Broomfield County. As a result, the population estimates used to calculate rates do not include this county. In order to maintain data consistency for the calendar year, the Health Statistics Section has assigned births and deaths that occurred in what is now recognized as Broomfield County during the period 11/15/2001 through 12/31/2001 to Adams, Boulder, or Jefferson county by geographic coding technology and has included them in the data for those counties. (Weld county data were not affected). |
